St. Peregrine Cancer Shrine

Perpetual Adoration

The St. Peregrine Cancer Shrine is a Perpetual Adoration Chapel.

Perpetual Adoration is when the Holy Eucharist is exposed in a monstrance or ciborium on an altar, every hour of the day, and every day of the week. It is required that at least two adorers are to be scheduled at all times. In case one of them has an emergency or cannot attend there is always someone present with the exposed Blessed Sacrament. Wherever the Eucharist is, Christ is present – Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity, and therefore must never be left alone without an adorer when exposed.

The Real Presence of Christ invites us to the adoration of the reserved Blessed Sacrament.

“When, therefore, the Church bids us adore Christ hidden behind the Eucharistic veils and pray to Him for the spiritual and temporal favors of which we ever stand in need, she manifests living faith in her divine Spouse who is present be neath these veils. (Pope Pius XII, Mediator Dei, 131)

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.”

If you would like to become an Adorer, please register on the Kiosk located in the Shrine (through the glass doors and to the left). Tap “Weekly Commitment” to see the days and hours that are available.
