From Maria P. in Barcelona, Spain. “I have received with joy and excitement the pretty shawl and prayers, thank you so much! Three months ago, just after my sixth child was born, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The power of prayer from so many people like you holds me and my family. Many thanks from Barcelona from the mother who trusts in God, and thank you for prayers that cross borders and oceans.” June 2014

The Cancer Ministry welcomes people who contact the shrine seeking support for themselves or a loved one. If requested, the prayer recipient’s first name only and a brief history of their condition are posted so that all who enter can keep them in prayer. In addition, note cards are personalized with their name. These cards are placed on a rack so adorers, parishioners, school children, and shrine visitors can pick them up and write the time and date of their prayer as well as notes of encouragement. These cards are mailed to the prayer recipient to bring hope and assurance that they are in our hearts and prayers. If you or a loved one would like to be featured in the shrine for these special prayer petitions, please contact Anthanette Donaldson at 480-844-4478 or adonaldson@ctk-catholic.org.

The Perpetual Adoration Ministry is supported by devoted people who have committed themselves to spending time with the Lord each week. There are adorers praying before the Blessed Sacrament 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For more information about this ministry contact, John & Luana Patterson at adoration@ctk-catholic.org.

The St. Peregrine Prayer Group gathers at the shrine on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month from 7- 8:30 p.m. for intercession, scripture meditation and saying the rosary. The relic of St. Peregrine is presented for veneration and the prayer team is available for healing prayer at the end of each meeting. For more information contact Anthanette Donaldson at 480-844-4478 or adonaldson@ctk-catholic.org.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry Group meets on the campus of Christ the King in the St. Francis room every Thursday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Prayer shawls and lap blankets are a treasured gift of prayer, contributing to the mission of the St. Peregrine Cancer Shrine. Our volunteers meet weekly to knit, crochet and quilt. Each shawl is blessed and has a St. Peregrine medal sewn to it as a reminder of the prayers coming their way from the volunteers who lovingly spend their time crafting the beautiful shawls and lap-blankets, while praying for those who are facing cancer. The shawls are then touched to the First Class Relic of St. Peregrine before mailing out.
